The Turkish Natural Disaster Insurance Institution (DASK) has officially launched the Compulsory Disaster Insurance (ZAS) system. While previous policies covered solely earthquake damages, the new reform includes climate risks such as flash floods, severe storms, landslides, and wildfires.
What Does the New ZAS Policy Cover?
- Flood and Inundation Protection: Structural damages resulting from river overflows and heavy rainfall.
- Inflation-Protected Sums Insured: Unit building costs and maximum indemnity ceilings adjust monthly with consumer price indices.
- Rural and Village Residences: Extended protection covering residences outside municipal boundaries.
